Caledus reports on the acquisition of Brunel Oilfield Services 2 years on

Roustabout Energy International – 31.10.08

Caledus the oil and gas service sector business established in 2003 and involved in well construction technology has now fully integrated Brunel Oilfield Services Ltd (BOS) into its TD Solutions™ portfolio. BOS was a company acquired by Caledus in November 2006 when annual sales for its range of EzeeGLIDER® Low Friction Thermoplastic casing and liner centralisers were still below $2m/pa. Since the EzeeGLIDER® has been under the ownership of Caledus it has grown to an annualised rate of $8m/pa. The outstanding achievement of four-fold growth in less than 24 months is largely due to the Caledus business development team making the products more widely available in new geographies, promoting them to new clients and being able to release the factual track record successes obtained in clients oil and gas wells. The increase in the complexity of wells being drilled globally year on year, especially high-angle, horizontal and extended reach drilling as the easier plays decline is also assisting in the growth of this high performance product. Caledus continues to enhance the offering by releasing new sizes of the EzeeGLIDER® to meet client demand as well as securing new applications for its use based on its material properties and design.

To date Caledus has concentrated on exploiting the European and Asia-Pacific markets for its TD Solutions™ products and services but the company is currently investing in the resources to enter the Middle East market as well as the Americas in 2009. Sales of EzeeGLIDER®'s are expected to double from the 2008 levels within 12 months as a result of continued expansion in existing markets and entry into new markets coupled to the increase in complex well drilling globally.

The company has grown from 2 to 40+ staff since early 2004 and with current recruitment approvals in place coupled with expected growth during 2009 this number is expected to increase beyond 50. Caledus also expects to move to new premises within the Aberdeen area during 2009 to accommodate increased business levels and staff numbers.

The future is bright for the EzeeGLIDER® under the ownership and management of Caledus and the product continues to perform in many of the World’s most complex wells.
